Is It Good? TMNT/Ghostbusters #2 Review

After some clumsy scientific shenanigans, The Turtles are in the Ghostbusters dimension along with one of their old enemies. This week, we get to see how the two teams react to each other. Is it good?

After a brief fight with Chi-You, the two teams parlay a bit before realizing that they have quite a bit in common with each other. Not only do they share a common enemy and live strange lives, but their personalities sync up surprisingly well with each other, too.

Example: They both seem to have a thing for redheads.

Meanwhile, Chi-You has kidnapped Casey while enacting a plan that threatens to mess up two of IDW’s best franchises if he isn’t stopped.

Now this is more like it.

While the opening issue stumbled quite a bit, this one fires on just about every cylinder. It’s a little too heavy on the exposition, but the great interactions between the Ghostbusters and Turtles more than make up for it. The scenes between Egon and Donatello are especially good, particularly in regards to the last scene of the comic.

I will fully admit to being skeptical of how good this crossover could be (especially after the first installment), but this issue has me completely on board. Even if the plot doesn’t turn out to be that great, Erik Burnham’s smart and snappy dialogue is a joy to read.

The great artwork by Dan Schoening helps, too.
