Detective Comics #967 finally brings Tim Drake home and reunites him with Batman and the Family. Tim Drake from the future is on his way to kill Batwoman and the Batman Family is on the move to stop him.

Listen to the latest episode of our weekly comics podcast!

A year ago, Tim Drake was abducted by Mr. Oz and presumed dead by Batman and the rest of the Bat Family. Now, we finally get to see the long awaited reunion of Tim Drake and Batman. The opening scenes were so exhilarating and had some of the most anxious moments of Batman on the move to find Tim Drake. The emotion on his face when he discovers Tim is back in Gotham was very emotional to see. You can feel everything that happens and you feel for Bruce when he leaves the cave to go find Tim. Those first five pages are the best in the book and didn’t waste any time. The very long year it took to get to this point didn’t feel wasted and was very delicately handled. The conclusion of the issue was very intense and leaves you with a very big cliffhanger. The only problem is we still don’t know too much about this Batman to know what exactly his plans are.

Detective Comics #967 Review

I did have a problem with the fact that the only people that seemed to show any emotion or seem to care was Batman and Orphan. Batwoman and everyone else just sort of looked like it wasn’t a big deal and showed no emotion. I expected a bigger reunion and reaction from the Gotham Knights. The opening six pages give you everything you’ve wanted and then the rest of the issue felt like just another issue. The future Tim Drake Batman had some very nice moments with Spoiler and Alfred that I really enjoyed. Alfred’s emotion and reaction to seeing the future Tim was nice to see as he’s always been very close and attached to all of the Robins.

Detective Comics #967 Review

The story is and has been great and is always filled with suspense. There’s no certainty on why he wants to kill Batwoman, though, which feels like it should have been addressed. There’s a lot of suspense and chasing but we never get to see too much of an actual brawl between the Bat Family and future Tim. It is however very cool to see all four Robins in action. Red Hood, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Robin all in the same room was very satisfying and I really hope we get to see much more of them in the next issues because this problem that they are facing with the future Batman is a big challenge that affects all of them. The art as always is great and shined a lot in this issue which was important because there were many moments where characters’ expressions were needed to be visible in order to feel the full emotions.

Detective Comics #967 is a must read book that brings the entire family together to face the dangerous future Tim Drake. This issue is filled with emotion and action that does not disappoint and leaves you with a cliffhanger that gives you so much excitement for the next issue. You can tell right away that this story will be revisited by fans for many years.

The reunion between Bruce and Tim was the best moment in this issue because fans have been wanting to see the return of Tim Drake to his home for well over a year. This didn't disappoint.
The surprise of Robin, Red Hood and Nightwing was very exciting and all the while Bat Family is here to take on the most dangerous Batman they could possibly face.
There was never any real emotion shown from Batwoman or other members of the family when Tim returned. I felt like there should have been more emotion when he showed up to the cave.
